THE STANDING COMMITTEES

SCOME

The Standing Committee on Medical Education (SCOME) began in 1951, as one of the IFMAS’s 1st standing committees. As one of the 6 standing committees in JAMSA, SCOME focuses on the development of medical education through the work and advocacy of medical students. It is a source of student empowerment where medical students are given a platform for personal and professional development.

SCOPE

SCOPE stands for Standing Committee on Professional Exchange

SCOPE facilitates international clinical student exchanges around the world to enhance the medical education experience of students whilst promoting cultural understanding, cooperation and global health education. 

SCOPH

The Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH) for Jamaica aims to bring together all medical students across Jamaica with the common goal of spreading public health awareness and fostering better habits among the public.  We aim to increase knowledge and foster ideas to address all issues related to public health; both globally and nationally.

SCORE

The Standing Committee on Research Exchange, JAMSA, is focused on improving the state of research within medical schools in Jamaica. We are aiming to improve the access to research, awareness on research and the participation of medical students in basic and clinical research projects locally and abroad. 

SCORA

The Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV and AIDS is a gathering of passionate individuals who are committed to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights and are arduous about creating positive change in their local communities.

SCORP

The Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace unite students who strive to create an equal and peaceful world and believe in international, intercultural as well as interpersonal solidarity. We believe in everybody’s responsibility as well as the ability to contribute to creating this world, as human rights can only exist when it applies to all humans.
