RESEARCH EXCHANGE
SCORE
SCORE is a standing committee, dedicated to expanding the horizons of our students. We often enter medicine with a myopic view of what our lives as doctors could be. SCORE challenges that view, emboldening us to see another fulfilling side of medicine. Research is where breakthroughs are made; breakthroughs that could potentially save lives and transform medicine as we know it today!
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to offer future physicians an opportunity to experience research and diversity in countries all over the world. This is achieved by providing a network of locally and internationally active students that globally facilitate access to research exchange projects. Through our programming and opportunities, we aim to develop both culturally sensitive students and skilled researchers intent on shaping the world of science.
OUR HISTORY
SCORE was founded in 1991 with the objective of giving students an opportunity of improving their skills in research in other learning settings.
OUR VISION
Medical students attain the optimal skills and knowledge to contribute to their full potential in research exchange.

OUR MAIN TOPICS
-
Enable them to take responsibility for their own learning according to their personal interests.
-
Introduce them to the basic principles of medical research
-
Widen their horizons and provide the opportunity to experience different approaches to health care, ethical research standards, medical research, education, and treatment.
-
Enhance the academic quality of the medical student curricula and achieve educational benefits of practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of medical research.
-
Facilitate collaboration and partnership between medical universities, research institutions and allied medical students across the globe in order to share and spread new achievements in medical research.
UPCOMING EVENTS
For this semester, SCORE intends to host numerous interactive webinars to assist students with various aspects of research and achieving these opportunities in general. This includes workshops to help with building CVs and writing applications, as well as ethics in research. SCORE will also be hosting a journal club in which students will be able to choose a number of specialties that they would be interested in. For each specialty chosen, a physician/researcher will be engaging in discussions and analysis of an article with small groups of students. The article would be provided before the meeting so that students will be prepared. SCORE will also continue to provide research opportunities and advocate for issues such as open science, equality and decolonizing research in low-to-middle income countries.
RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Over the past few weeks, SCORE has provided students with several local and international research opportunities. Some of these opportunities were to assist with data collection such as Acute Kidney Injury in Sickle Cell Research and the Quality Assurance Research of Internal medicine patients. Other opportunities involved writing a literature review such as in Acute Kidney Injury in Non-cardiac surgery and being a co-investigator in the Incentivized Activity Monitoring in Diabetic patients research
